Please sign the Petition to STOP St. Louis County Council's Abuse of Power - Pay to Play at work in South County
TO: ALL MY SOUTH COUNTY NEIGHBORS --- AN URGENT NEED FOR YOUR HELP
I HAVE BEEN SUPPORTING ERNIE TRAKAS AND OUR TESSON FERRY AREA NEIGHBORS IN AN EFFORT TO STOP THE CONSTRUCTION OF A PROPOSED 232 UNIT, 10 BUILDING, 2-4 STORY APARTMENT COMPLEX AT THE CORNER OF TESSON FERRY AND BAUER ROADS NEAR ST. ANTHONY’S HOSPITAL. THIS HIGH DENSITY PROPOSAL IS INCOMPATIBLE WITH THE SINGLE FAMILY CHARACTER OF THE NEIGHBORHOOD, WILL IMPACT PROPERTY VALUES, OVER STRESS THE MEHVILLE SCHOOL DISTRICT, OVER LOAD ALREADY OVER CROWDED TESSON FERRY AND BAUER ROADS, AND IMPACT THE PUBLIC SAFETY OF RESIDENTS OF THE AREA.
SOUTH COUNTY ALREADY HAS ENOUGH APARTMENTS, PARTICULARLY ALONG THE TESSON FERRY ROAD CORRIDOR. UNDER THE ADMINISTRATION OF STEVE STENGER AND KEVIN O’LEARY, SOUTH COUNTY HAS BECOME A DUMPING GROUND FOR SPECIAL INTEREST PROJECTS. THIS IS ANOTHER ONE, BOUGHT AND PAID FOR BY DONATIONS OF ABOUT $100,000 TO THEIR CAMPAIGNS FROM THE INVESTORS IN THE PROJECT.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
THIS IS WHERE YOU COME IN. AN OPPOSITION SITE HAS BEEN SET UP TO COLLECT THE SIGNATURES OF ST. LOUIS COUNTY VOTERS IN OPPOSITION TO THE PROJECT. TO DATE, OVER 2200 PEOPLE HAVE SIGNED THE PETITION. I ASK THAT EACH OF YOU SPEND JUST ONE MINUTE OF YOUR TIME HELPING THIS CAUSE BY SIGNING THEIR PETITION AT Sayno2Bauer21.weebly.com . (Please note that anyone who is a registered voter in St. Louis County is eligible to sign the petition)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I also ask that you vote for Ernie Trakas to replace Kevin O’Leary as the 6th District County Council seat. If you are not in the 6th District, please pass this recommendation on to anyone you know that resides there. ERNIE will stop this project, end Pay-to-Play, and return political power to South County. His opponent is the heir, apparently handpicked by Stenger, and will continue to sell us out. She has already received $5000 in donations from the 21 Bauer builder.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
THANKS FOR YOUR TIME AND CONSIDERATION.
LET OUR VOICE BE HEARD!!

Below is copied from an email dated 9/30/2016 from Michael Doyen who has been fighting along with numerous people from subdivisions in the area against the St Louis County Council:

STATUS UPDATE -- 21BAUER APARTMENT COMPLEX
Well as Yogi Berra said, “it déjà vu all over again”. We are back to square one. Since our last update, JHB properties have withdrawn their original request for the project following our legal challenge to the County Planning Commission’s procedural approval process. The county acquiesced to our challenge and has now scheduled a Planning Commission Hearing to revert the property back to its original R-2 zoning status. That Hearing is now scheduled for 7:00 PM, October 10 at the County Council Office. This is the same place that all our previous County meetings were held. Coincidentally, JHB Properties refiled their application and the apartments complex proposal is now back on. The County has scheduled this proposal to be considered simultaneously with the zoning reversion Hearing on October 10. We believe that this scheduling confirms our belief that the County Council will do all it can to accelerate the vote on the project so that it occurs while Kevin O’Leary is still in office.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
NOVEMBER 8TH ELECTION IS VITAL TO STOPPING THE BAUER21 PROJECT
In addition, this timing reconfirms our belief that our only viable route for defeating the project resides in the election of a new supportive 6th District Council representative at the November 8th County election. The two candidates for this office are Ernie Trakas and Patrica Yaeger. Ernie has been with us from day one in our fight and has sworn to defeat this proposal, if elected. For the past four months Patricia Yaeger has been missing in action. Only recently she indicated to the “Call” newspaper that she has no position on this matter because it would be “disrespectful” for her to do so while Kevin O’Leary is still in office. Ms. Yaeger has not been at a single Planning Commission or County Council meeting regarding this matter as far as we can tell, while Ernie Trakas has been at nearly all and has been a vital resource. Ms. Yaeger has also accepted a $5000 donation to her campaign from the proposed 21Bauer developer, JHB Properties. We have attempted to contact Ms. Yaeger and solicit her support and involvement but to no avail as yet. She has no web access and apparently no phone listing. We want you to know that we would still welcome her efforts and participation in ending this project. Nevertheless, the facts speak for themselves. They say “all politics is local” and that is truly the case here. This is not about a Democrat, a Republican, or an Independent. While most of us affiliate with one party; this is not about political parties and it shouldn’t be. The bottom line is the need to elect a representative for the people of South County who will help us in our need, not another puppet of special interests. The pay to play culture in County Government has been apparent in this case and it must end. If we are to be successful, it is critical to elect a representative that casts the fourth County Council no vote or all our work will have been for nothing. We are not trying to tell you who to vote for, but only to advise you of the criticality of an informed decision to the success of all our effort.
