Also at Jefferson Barracks
JB Blast isn't the only way to celebrate Independence Day at Jefferson Barracks. Visitors are welcome to pay their respects to the service men and women buried at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.
The cemetery, with its rows and rows of military graves, is an impressive site any time of the year, but even more so on patriotic holidays. The cemetery grounds are open daily from dawn to dusk. The office is open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1998.
Jefferson Barracks Park also has several other spots worth visiting. The park is a former military post and several buildings have been turned into museums. The museums are filled with permanent displays and special exhibits highlighting the history of the area and its importance in military operations. The museums are open Wednesday through Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. Admission is free, but donations are welcome.
