Hi everybody,
I'm sending out a HUGE thank you to all of your for your help with the backpacks for last night BTS Parents Night Out event. I was disappointed that we had some no-shows, but we did have 15 very grateful kids and some happy parents as well.
We played a BTS Bingo game and each child received a $15 Payless Shoe gift card. We fed them hotdogs, chips, punch and ice cream for dinner and then played another game to take turns selecting a backpack. This gave the kids more ownership and pride in their new items. After some fun, Jan DeYoung from STL Teacher's Recycling Center had VanGo and the children received a book and took an oath to read the book outside (hopefully after this heat retreats).
Additionally, parents were served light refreshments and had the opportunity to buy back to school clothing for children at 25¢ an item from 5:30-7:00pm. Quite a deal, indeed.
Special thanks to club President Judy, along with Pauline Roth, Linda Bowen and Gerri Abeln for their help with dinner, and helping to moderate the evenings activities.
Another successful Feed My People Back To School Parents Night Out. Thank you Kiwanis Club of South County for all you do to help our clients children in need.

I had a blast serving the children and playing games with them. I just love working with the Kiwanis Club and helping children. We had children from Affton, Hancock, Lindbergh & Mehlville School Districts so the South County community was well represented.
